Day by day itinerary
1. Marrakech-Ait benhaddou to Ouarzazate:
Marrakech-Ait benhaddou to Ouarzazate Depart from your hotel to begin an exciting journey southeast toward the High Atlas Mountains. After crossing the highest pass, Tichka Pass (2260 m), drive downhill straight to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. Along the way, enjoy stunning landscapes. Once we arrive, stop for lunch at a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Kasbah. Additionally, take a walk through the village to discover the fascinating history of this ksar.
Historically, the site sat along one of the main commercial routes connecting Sahara Africa and Marrakech, highlighting its strategic importance. This adventure is just one highlight of the Desert tour from Marrakech, offering a truly unforgettable experience. Late afternoon; we drive to Ouarzazate (movie city, offten called: Hollywood of Africa). Visit one of the oldest buildings in the region (Taourirt Kasbah). Overnight in a Hotel or Riad.
2. Ouarzazate-Roses valley-Todra gorges to Merzouga:
Today, we drive east along the route of a thousand kasbahs, experiencing some of Morocco’s most stunning landscapes. Along the way, we will likely pass through the Roses Valley (Kelaa M’gouna), known for Morocco’s celebrated roses used in making rosewater, celebrated every May. Next, continue your journey to Tinghir, famous for its fascinating Todra Oasis.
Then, the road leads us to the Todra Gorges, where cliffs reach up to 300 meters in places. Here, walk, take beautiful pictures, and enjoy the fresh air along the gorges. Additionally, a natural spring nourishes the area, transforming it into a true paradise on earth. We will likely spend less time here before continuing our journey to Merzouga and the famous Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the changing landscapes. Upon arriving in the dunes area, the locals will welcome you. You’ll mount your camel to venture through the vast dunes on your way to your camp. This is just one of the highlights of our Desert tour from Marrakech, ensuring an unforgettable adventure.
3. Merzouga-Errachidia-Midelt-Ifrane to Fes:
Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise. Then, have breakfast before getting on the camel to ride back to the hotel. Afterward, a quick shower is possible before leaving the desert, marking the end of your adventure. Your next destination is Fez, passing through Errachidia, where you’ll be greeted by the stunning Ziz Valley oasis. Afterward, we’ll reach Midelt, also known as the “Apple Town,” where we’ll pause for lunch. Later in the afternoon, we continue our journey, passing through Azrou Forest, home to wild monkeys and birds. Finally, Ifrane, often called “Morocco’s Switzerland,” is the next town before reaching Fez. This marks the end of our 3-day Marrakech to Fez via Merzouga trip.
