Your day, step by step

  1. Day trip from Ouarzazate

07:30 AM, your day trip from Ouarzazate to Zagora begins as we head southeast toward the Sahara region. Initially, the drive takes us through the dramatic Anti-Atlas Mountains, a range shaped by ancient volcanic activity.

Soon after, we ascend to the Tinifift Pass (1,660 meters), offering spectacular views of rugged, mineral-rich peaks. Afterwards, we descend into the town of Agdz, the gateway to Morocco’s longest river valley. From here, we follow the left bank of the Draa Valley, once a thriving caravan route linking North Africa to the Sahara.

Meanwhile, you’ll notice a shifting landscape of palms, kasbahs, and villages rich in Saharan heritage.

  2. Day trip from Ouarzazate

We’ll pause at Tamnougalt, a charming village, to visit a local kasbah and enjoy a refreshing cup of mint tea. Subsequently, we pass through a string of Berber villages scattered along the valley.

Eventually, we rejoin the main road leading to Zagora, a picturesque town known for its welcoming charm. Surrounded by pink oleander, cerise bougainvillea, and towering palm trees, Zagora is a true desert oasis.

Eighteen kilometers farther, we reach Tamgroute, a village with deep cultural roots. Here, you’ll explore its historic library, ancient underground passageways, and a cooperative for traditional green pottery.

Then, we continue toward the Tinfou Sand Dunes, shaped by strong desert winds.

At this point, you may enjoy a camel ride—available on request—for 30 minutes or longer. Following that, we return to Zagora for lunch at a serene restaurant nestled in the palm groves.

Later in the afternoon, we drive back to Ouarzazate via the same scenic route.

Finally, we conclude the day with memories of Morocco’s culture, nature, and warm hospitality.
